The Vino Kozinc Winery

For a long time, the Dolenjska region was only about the Cviček wine, and the people of Dolenjska only about vineyard cottages. The Vino Kozinc Winery came about after a father sold the cows and planted the first vineyards on Dedna gora, and his son went to Maribor to study agronomy and to France to improve his winemaking knowledge. That is why the Kozinc wines are so sparklingly bubbly and selected for their stillness so that they can be read as a book and drunk as food. Come, therefore, with an empty stomach and an empty boot.
 

Why visit Vino Kozinc?

Because the visit starts in the vineyard. Because one must first go underground to see where and how the vine grows. And then you walk among the vines to see in which direction the grapes are oriented and how warm they’re getting. Then you are greeted by a dog protecting the vineyard. Only then can you understand what the creator of these wines is saying when he explains that virgins don’t like surprises. These wines grow in vineyards and age in barrels, which gives them a clear and recognisable Dolenjska character, but also a strict and educated Kozinc upbringing. Such grapes can only be healthy and such wines can only be what their maker allows them to be, without any arbitrariness or surprises.
