The Vina HUBA Martinčič Winery

Mala Hubajnica 7a, 8293 Studenec

The Martinčič family came to Hubajnica because of Cviček, but then the worst ice storm in Slovenia led to sparkles. When the roots came out, showing that the whole hill underneath was white, this was luck for Martin Martinčič. “I immediately knew that this was good for sparkling wines!”

The four Huba vineyard locations offer a nice walk around the wine cellar. Walking around, you get to know a healthy vine, thriving at an altitude of 500 m, with cool nights and warm days without stress, and sweet grapes, drawing their strength from two underground worlds – the dolomite rock that is full of magnesium and the calcareous material that ”sparkles” as in the Champagne region.

Why visit Vina HUBA Martinčič?

Huba should be visited because the owner first takes you among the barrels, not to pour wine, though – but to show you the rocks used to build the old cellar. For the hospitality that the soil offers here to its vine is essential for the wine that the Martinčičs offer to their guests. And since wine is happy if the vine is forced to push its roots deep down to the mineral nutrients, the guests are also happy when the host takes them around his estate. Here, the soil does not only provide a special vine – it also provides special wines!
