Kunej Wine & Chocolate
The Kunej homestead in Brestanica murmurs. The old water spring cools the tasting experience and is a musical accompaniment to the bubbles which say hello with a pop, after they have spent ten long years in the company of yeasts. Guests come for the chocolate, and then fall in love with the wines. Or they come to taste the wines, and then learn how to melt and shape chocolate. Some prefer wine, while others chocolate, but everybody is happy at the Kunejs’.
On Sremič, the young master Aleš has vineyard sites next to the cottage and under a 100 year old yew tree that Trappist monks also appreciated back in the day, and his Portuguese wife Emanuela works in a chocolate shop in Brestanica, where she makes such truffles and chocolates that they even go well with top dry wines.
Why visit Kunej Wine & Chocolate?
Wine and chocolate are a known couple, but only in the mouth, not already in the bottle ... Chocolate wine? No, Kunej’s ChocolatImpérial! A visit to the Kunej homestead in Brestanica starts with tasting in Aleš’s wine cellar or with the chocolate workshop in Emanuela’s chocolate shop. At the vineyard cottage on Sremič, a walk to the old yew tree is pleasantly extended at the old press or on the terrace. Wine can come with meat products or chocolates, and chocolate can come with or in wine.
