The first thing that meets your eye in Stara vas is Villa Istenič, its beauty reminiscent of the French wine châteaux. Why visit Istenič Sparkling Wines?

Since over the last 55 years Stara vas has been sparkling so successfully, a wine-tasting visit to Posavje, which will some day be as sparkling and renowned as the Champagne region, must begin with Istenič. For it is here that a famous Slovenian goal keeper fell so much in love with the famous sparkling wines that he went to Champagne to study. When he returned, full of knowledge, he discovered in his father-in-law’s vineyard in Stara vas that the same freshness that makes Bizeljsko wines so palatable is the foundation of the celebrated sparkling wines of Champagne. His son Miha first inherited his father’s passion and then upgraded the “perfection of the classics” with his “superb experiments”, and now a third generation, his sons Nik and Mark, is taking over the steering of the long sparkling tradition. Meeting the Istenič family, one becomes aware why sparkling wines are getting increasingly popular around the world. Because they are filled with so much passion!
