Albiana

You can still visit the Žaren family in Nemška vas above Krško, where almost all of their 23 hectares of vineyards lie in an amphitheatre surrounding a modern farm, to get some Cviček wine, but then you fall in love with Albiana. The wine tasting experience in the vineyard, cellar and modern tasting room starts and ends with a sparkle, that is with sparkling wines, and in between the master of the house, Jernej, and his young oenologist Miha pour wine, so that Lidija, the lady of the house, can cook like the chefs in whose restaurants the Albiana wine is drunk most often, only that here it is like home.
 

Why visit Albiana?

Albiana should be visited to better appreciate the Cviček wine! For without Cviček these sparkling and superb wines would not exist. Therefore, one must learn how to produce and sell so many hectolitres of Cviček per year that you can taste the determination to make the best wine that is present in Albiana, to dig a new vineyard for the grapes out of sheer rock and to build the largest wine-ageing facility in Slovenia for Blaufränkisch wine, so that the velvet dark grapes that were previously good only for Cviček are now used for “French” sparkling wines in Dolenjska.
